Woman Fights Back With Alleged Robber, Bites Him
BROOKLYN PARK, Md. (WJZ) -- Caught on camera. A man allegedly robs a woman at gunpoint inside an Anne Arundel County pizza shop.
Tracey Leong explains why police need your help to track down the suspect.
Police say a man attacked a woman Sunday in broad daylight. WJZ obtained surveillance footage of the brazen armed robbery.
You can see the suspect open the victim's door, the car rolls back as he struggles to wrestle away her purse.
"We don't know at this point if this was random or targeted," police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said. "If this person maybe knew her habits or this was just a window that he saw and he took advantage of it."
The 58-year-old woman bites the man on his hand, but in the end, the suspect runs off with her belongings.
It took place outside the Pizza Hut on Ritchie highway in Brooklyn Park. The victim was able to escape without injury.
A short time later, the man used her credit card in south Baltimore. The convenience store camera captured his image.
The suspect's car seen in the video is a tan minivan with Maryland tags and no tint on the windows.
Police are urging the public to come forward with information before the suspect strikes again.
"Maybe it's one degree of separation, two degrees of separation, something may know somebody who knows this guy," Mulcahy said. "Maybe he's said something to somebody, maybe they recognize this guy had an injury to his hand, you may want to look into this."
With the help of social media, police are hoping someone will recognize this suspect and it will lead to his arrest.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
