Woman Charged With Negligence For Texting In Fatal Crash
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A woman who prosecutors say was texting and driving when she hit and killed a motorcyclist has been charged with negligent manslaughter by motor vehicle.
Elizabeth Haley Meyers, 20, of Severn, was also charged Monday with criminal negligent manslaughter, reckless driving, negligent driving, failure to yield the right of way and text messaging while driving.
The Anne Arundel County State's Attorney's Office says Meyers was trying to drive across Route 3 in Gambrills on March 10. Officials say she drove into the path of Jonathan Wesley Roberts of Aylett, Va.
Roberts, 30, died at a local hospital.
