Woman, 88, Dies In Baltimore Rowhouse Fire
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Baltimore County Fire Department spokesman says an 88-year-old woman has been killed in a fire at a row house.
Chief Kevin Cartwright says firefighters were called to a report of a house fire about 6:40 p.m. Sunday in the 2200 block of E. North Avenue and arrived to find heavy fire and smoke on the first floor. Cartwright says firefighters found the woman while searching the home. He says she appeared to have suffered smoke inhalation and burns. The victim has not been identified.
A neighbor suffered a leg injury while trying to rescue the woman and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
