Wisconsin Hits 17 3s, Beats Coppin State 80-56
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Jon Leuer sank 3-pointers on Wisconsin's first four possessions and finished with 19 points as the Badgers set a school record from long range en route to an 80-56 victory over Coppin State on Thursday night.
Seven players combined to hit 17 shots from beyond arc for Wisconsin (10-2), which got 3-pointers on its final three possessions of the first half to build a 47-28 lead.
Tony Gallo led the Eagles (4-5) with 17 points.
Leuer, a 6-foot-10 senior forward, was 7 of 15 from the floor and 5 of 10 from 3-point range. Jordan Taylor and Tim Jarmusz each hit four 3-pointers.
Taylor finished with 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Badgers, who only had five turnovers. Wisconsin entered the game leading the nation in fewest turnovers per game (9.5).
