Winning Mega Millions Ticket Sold In Baltimore Co.
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- If you bought a Mega Millions ticket in Baltimore County, your dreams may be about to come true.
Monique Griego has more.
A Baltimore County 7-Eleven on Liberty Road in Milford Mill sold one of the winning Mega Millions tickets. The winning numbers are 2-4-23-38-46 and Mega Ball 23. Two other winning tickets have also been identified in Kansas and Illinois.
The 7-Eleven that sold the winning ticket has been overrun with people, including reporters and camera crews. Customers are excited that a winning ticket was sold right there.
This was the world's largest lottery payout: $640 million. The odds of winning were one in 176 million. Each winner will get $213 million before taxes.
Retailers were lucky, too. They get five percent of every ticket sold. The 7-Eleven that sold the winning ticket will get a $100,000 bonus.
"This is truly remarkable and historic," said Maryland Lottery Director Stephen Martino. "We can't wait to greet the winner of this world-record setting jackpot."
The winners are each expected to get $213 million before taxes.
Since its inception in 1973, the Maryland Lottery has awarded more than $18.73 billion in prizes to players and $12.2 billion in revenue to the state of Maryland.
So far, Maryland's winner has not come forward. Maryland is one of the few states where winners can remain anonymous.
The next drawing will be held on Tuesday. The jackpot is $12 million.
