Winning Mega Millions Ticket Claimed
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Officials at the Maryland Lottery have confirmed that someone has come forward to claim the winning Mega Millions ticket.
Jessica Kartalija has more.
National attention has been on the mysterious Maryland winner ever since that historic $656 million drawing.
WJZ confirms someone has come forward to claim the winning Mega Millions ticket, which was sold at a 7-Eleven in Milford Mill. Split with two other national winners, it's worth $105 million after taxes.
Rumors have been flying about exactly who holds that winning ticket.
Mirlande Wilson, a single mother of seven in Southwest Baltimore, made national headlines when she claimed to have it, but later changed her story.
"I don't know what's going on," Wilson said.
She told the media the ticket was hidden in the McDonald's where she worked, then claimed she "misplaced" it. She even hired a lawyer to handle the firestorm of questions from reporters.
It's not clear whether Wilson is the winner who came forward Monday. Lottery officials said the winner plans to remain anonymous.
Lottery officials aren't releasing any details about the winner Monday. They will hold a news conference Tuesday morning at lottery headquarters.
