Who Is Baltimore Officer Caesar Goodson?
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Officer Caesar Goodson Jr. is one of six officers charged in Gray's death, but the only one facing murder charges.
The day Freddie Gray was arrested, Goodson was driving the van to the Western District police station. When the van arrived at the station Gray was already critically injured and unresponsive. Gray later died from his injuries on April 19, 2015.
According to our media partner, The Baltimore Sun, Goodson was driving the van because he volunteered to work an overtime shift on an off day. He also worked part time as an auto mechanic.
Goodson, who has been on the force for 16 years, lives on a quiet street in Catonsville.
Goodson's neighbor's told The Sun last year that he was a friendly man.
"He spends a lot of time with his family and kids," said a neighbor who declined to give her name. "He's helped me with my car a few times. I could never say anything negative about him."
