Where's Marty? Checking out Valentine's Day Cards at a local greeting card warehouse
Hi Everyone!
Valentines Day is tomorrow.
The day to say, "Hey your special!" Though some folks are not big fans of the day and say, "Nothing to see here move on."
In either case, there is a Valentines Day card for the mood of the moment.
In Essex, there is a business called Notes & Queries. They are distributors of fine cards, and stationary, though cards do get the headline on the resume.
Today, Vanessa Harnik, who's dad Alan started the business from a cart in Madagascar nearly 40 years ago, joined K2 and I.
She is a savvy business woman with a great personality who walked us through the Valentine card landscape.
Mother's Day, Christmas, and Valentines Day are on the Mt. Rushmore of greeting cards as numbers 2, 3, and 4.
It is Birthday cards coming in at No. 1.
Vanessa told us Valentines Day cards are bought by the hundreds of thousands in the day's leading up to February 14. In fact, it is the most "latest bought" of the four card giving days. So if you are going, "NUTS I gotta get my HON a card" you are not alone.
Let's be honest, the images of Val's Day is flowers, chocolate, and jewelry, but the card is THE universal. (And cheapest-HA!)
While we had one of the biggest distributors of cards in the Mid-Atlantic with us, I asked what are the next big card holidays/events we'll see out.
Vanessa said that St. Patrick's Day gets some play, Easter more, (not like the big four), but that people start buying Graduation cards in January. Really? She said 1000%.
Following up that conversation, I asked when they begin to think Christmas. And she said last November. That will be the subject in our last video segment you can watch here. And the amount of different Christmas cards they will distribute is mind blowing. Here are a few.
And with snow falling outside of Vanessa Harnik's office window, it was beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Here is the website for Notes and Queries. https://www.nandq.com/ .They are a wholesale business, but just look at the amount of cards out there!
