Hi Everyone!

We did not plan it this way, but today is the start of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. (And that is something we at WJZ, along with our friends at Chesapeake Urology, are 100% behind.) But a while back we found out that there is a National Urology Museum here in Baltimore, Linthicum to be exact.

It is at the headquarters of the American Urological Association which is here, in Baltimore, in Liinthicum to be exact. WHO KNEW? We had a "WM?" slot open on this date so we booked the William P. Didusch Center for Urologic HIstory.

To be honest, it is a museum by doctors for doctors. But yearly, average citizens come by and get guided tours about a subject that affects us all. The Bladder. There could be a lot of jokes here, but this is not a joke. It is big, beautiful, and extensive. With a gift shop that has a sense of humor to say the least.

The study of the Bladder goes back to Hippocrates himself. His studies of Bladder stones, shown below, led the way to establishing this new form of medicine.

And it was actual war that pushed the field of Urology from mostly Venereal disease to surgery.

There is currently an extensive display of wartime and Urology. Even to a layman, it's quite interesting. QUITE INTERESTING.  For more info, click here.  You can get a guided tour!

Sometimes in life, "things just work out." And today was such a case. Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and the Urology Museum. What a day. By the way, do not forget the Dr. Sanford J. Siegel Prostate Cancer Run/Walk on October 1st. WJZ and Chesapeake Urology will see you there.
