Westminster Man Stabs Wife, Then Kills Himself
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- A Carroll County woman clings to life at Shock Trauma-- the victim of a gruesome crime.
Police say the woman's husband attacked her outside their Westminster home in broad daylight, then took his own life.
Weijia Jiang has reaction from the shaken neighbors who stepped in to help.
Blood is still splattered all over a car that marks the spot of a deadly scene. Police say 50-year-old Douglas Harvey stabbed his wife, 45-year-old Lisa Harvey, before turning the knife on himself, ending his own life.
Next door neighbor Patty Connor says she saw it all unfold, and sat with Lisa Harvey until help arrived.
"I went up to her, she was bleeding in several places so I was holding cloths down trying to stop the bleeding," Connor said. "She was bleeding so bad."
It happened just before 1 p.m. Friday, outside of Lisa Harvey's Toyota parked right in front of the couple's Westminster house on Strand Avenue.
Police say the pair's 13-year-old son was sitting in the car during the entire episode.
"He was so upset," next door neighbor Linda Nye said. "He was trying to save his mother, trying to hide from his father. Then he went after his father. It was bad."
Police have not determined a motive but they say Lisa Harvey moved out of the house a month ago. She came back here Friday to get her personal belongings when the fight erupted.
"It scares me," neighbor Bruce Green said. "My granddaughter lives with me. It's scary."
As the community tries to make sense of the tragedy, investigators continue to scour the property for evidence hoping to answer why a family was torn apart in such a chilling way.
Douglas Harvey was pronounced dead at the hospital Friday afternoon. Lisa Harvey remains in Shock Trauma in critical condition. Their son is now staying with family members.
The Carroll County Police Department is leading this ongoing investigation.
