Western Md. Man Gets 6 Years For Fatal Overdose
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Smithsburg man has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for selling the drugs that caused a fatal overdose.
Ryan Hartley, 26, was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Baltimore.
Court records show that Hartley agreed in January to plead guilty to conspiring to distribute the morphine and methadone that resulted in the death of Washington County resident Brandon Sgaggero.
Two co-defendants, Luis Reyes-Torres of Hagerstown and April Lynn Baker of Greencastle, Pa., were previously sentenced in the case.
U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein says this is the third federal case recently prosecuted in Maryland in which the defendants distributed drugs that led to a fatal overdose. All three victims lived in Washington County.
