Western Md. Doctor Pleads Guilty To Drug Charge
CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- A Cumberland physician is paying a $500 fine for marijuana possession.
Anesthesiologist Rohan Mullings, 49, was also placed on unsupervised probation for a year after pleading guilty Tuesday in Allegany County Circuit Court.
The judge granted Mullings probation before judgment, which means the conviction may be expunged.
Prosecutors dropped 20 other counts, including obtaining prescriptions by fraud and possession of the synthetic opiate fentanyl and the tranquilizer ketamine.
Investigators say they learned that Mullings was legally authorized to possess those drugs.
Mullings has voluntarily surrendered his Maryland medical license. He was medical director for pain management at the Western Maryland Health System before his arrest.
Mullings says the marijuana wasn't his and that he never used illegal drugs during his more than six years in Cumberland.
