Western Md. College Exhibits Art Made By Inmates
CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- Art created by maximum-security prison inmates is on display at Allegany College of Maryland in Cumberland.
The exhibit of more than 20 pieces opened Nov. 4 and will be on view through Jan. 27.
The artists are inmates at the nearby North Branch and Western correctional institutions. Prison officials say the pieces were produced in art classes taught by inmates with supplies purchased with inmate funds.
North Branch Recreation Officer Melissa Will says art provides a positive, creative outlet for men who are trying to change their lives.
