Wegmans Grocery Store Gets Rezoning Approval In Owings Mills
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (WJZ) -- The Baltimore County Council approved rezoning for the vacant Solo Cup Factory Tuesday evening by a vote of 6-1.
The rezoning makes way for Foundry Row, which will feature a Wegmans as its anchor.
"We are thrilled with this vote. This is a major breakthrough for the Greater Owings Mills community," said Brian Gibbons, chairman and CEO of Greenberg Gibbons, the project's developer.
This project will create 2,300 construction jobs and 3,100 permanent jobs and provide $12 million in annual tax revenue.
"We applaud members of the County Council for seeing through the negative campaign waged by opposing developers and staying true to what the community wants. I want to thank the people of Owings Mills and the seven community and business groups that have continued to support Foundry Row," Gibbons said. "It's a new day for Owings Mills and we are ready to move forward now."
In addition to the Wegmans, there will be 40,000 square feet of office space, a fitness anchor, a sporting goods anchor, upscale shops and restaurants.
The developer will pay for $7 million of road improvements near the area, including the intersection of Reisterstown Road and Painters Mill Road.
