7 Killed, 4 Injured In Separate Shootings In Baltimore Memorial Day Weekend, Police Say

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Seven people were killed and four others were injured in separate shootings in Baltimore on Memorial Day weekend, police said.

Four of the fatal shootings happened on Sunday, police said.

Three of the fatal shootings happened on Saturday. One of them happened around 2 a.m. and the other happened around 2 p.m.

The third fatal shooting happened around 9:40 p.m. Officers called to the 300 block of Collins Avenue for a reported shooting found a 21-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim died at the scene, police said.

At around 9:45 p.m. Saturday, offices were called to an area hospital after a man with multiple gunshot wounds sought treatment. Police said the victim was rushed into surgery.

They did not say where or when the man may have been shot.

Around 2 a.m. Sunday, police responded to another shooting in the 1000 block of Leadenhall Street. When officers arrived, they found a 40-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries is unclear.

Another shooting happened just before 3 a.m. Sunday in the 2400 block of Shirley Avenue in north Baltimore. Police said officers found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Another non-fatal shooting happened around 12:25 p.m. in the 2100 block of Wilkens Avenue. Officers patrolling the area heard gunshots and found an 18-year-old man with gunshot wounds.

Police did not specify the extent of the victim's injuries.

Just before 3 p.m., police responded to yet another shooting, this time at the intersection of Cuthbert and Belvedere avenues. When they arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds nearby in the 5100 block of Litchfield Avenue.

The victim was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

Later on, shortly before 7 p.m., a patrol officer heard gunfire coming from the intersection of Rutland and East Lafayette Street.

The patrol officer responded and saw a 41-year-old man and 42-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both were pronounced dead, and homicide detectives are now investigating.

About an hour later, at around 8:06 p.m., a patrol officer responded to the 5200 block of Frankford Avenue after hearing gunfire.

When the officer arrived, they saw a male suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim was pronounced dead. Homicide detectives took over the investigation.
