WEATHER BLOG: Thanksgiving
Thursday has shaped up to be a fantastic Thanksgiving holiday across the Eastern Region, with a good deal of sunshine and temperatures mostly in the upper 50s this afternoon. That being said, under a clear sky early this morning and with very little wind, temperatures as of this writing do vary quite a bit.
Some of those typically colder outlying areas are starting off in the mid and upper 20s, but many of the bigger cities are in the upper 30s.
Winds will be out of the north and northeast and very light. Therefore, for those who will be doing last minute traveling, the weather will be very cooperative. The sky Thursday night will be mostly clear, and temperatures will wind up in the 30s in most of the suburbs of the larger cities and the lower 40s in some of those cities.
Friday will be quite mild for this time of year, with afternoon temperatures near 60. There will, however, be a cold front that we'll be watching closely late Friday night and on Saturday.
It is worth pointing out that with the winds beginning to pick up late Friday night and remaining gusty on Saturday, whatever the temperature is during the morning (in most cases, in either the middle or upper 40s), it should start to slowly fall during the midday and afternoon hours.
By nightfall, some places will be near 40, and the wind will make it feel like it's in the lower 30s.
As for precipitation, even though we will not totally rule out a few sprinkles and flurries near the I-95 corridor, most of the activity (flurries and a snow shower) will occur in the mountains on Saturday.
Sunday should be the coldest day of the entire forecast period, with most temperatures hard-pressed to get out of the middle 40s, even though there should be some sunshine.
