Rounds of showers and thunderstorms will continue until the remnant center of Isaac clears us later this week.
The center of what was Isaac is still spinning over Missouri this Saturday evening. At the same time, there is a front moving down from the Great Lakes into the Mid-Atlantic. Even though the center of what was Isaac will take a few days to arrive here in Maryland, the approaching front has connected with Isaac's moisture - pulling it way out ahead of the front. That's why we saw light rain Saturday morning, and then enough moisture mixing with the front for thunderstorms in the afternoon/evening.
The thunderstorms will wind down overnight, but some showers will linger. In fact, since the front made that connection with Isaac, the flow of moisture will continue to stream our way until the center of the storm heads out to sea on Wednesday. We will see varying chances for showers and thunderstorms until that happens, but we will face a few rounds the next few days. Spotty rain and showers will give way to some thunderstorms Sunday. Then, there will be more in the way of rain and thunderstorms Monday into Tuesday as the low slowly crosses Maryland. It will try to move out to sea Wednesday. We will see some rain and maybe thunderstorms again before that happens.
The forecast for later in the week is very uncertain. We will likely get a break from the stormy weather Thursday and maybe Friday. However, the flow of the weather pattern after that will really depend on what happens with strengthening tropical storm Leslie. Leslie's winds are up to 65 mph as it moves off to the west-northwest at 18 mph. Leslie is going to pass north of the Caribbean Islands, and it still hundreds of miles from Bermuda. But the steering flow that will ultimately drive Leslie's path has some questions to it. We are waiting to see if the approaching front picks Leslie up and turns it to the north and then eventually northeast or if the Atlantic high keeps a more southerly route that could push Leslie closer into North America.
Tropical storm Kirk which is way out there in the Atlantic has recurved and will not be a problem for us.
