WEATHER BLOG: Lack Of Rain

We have had some beautiful days this month, but the lack of rain is really adding up once again. That's why Tuesday's rain was beneficial in some cases. At the airport, we officially received .60" worth of rain which cut our yearly rainfall deficit to -5.84".

However, some areas saw too much rain too quickly, and flooding became a problem. The worst flooding we saw was in Frederick County with 2-4" of rain, and along the western shores of the Bay where the rain combined with a tidal push for flooding.

High pressure will bring dry air our way for the rest of the work week. Other than patchy morning fog, expect sunshine Thursday and then partly to mostly sunny skies Friday. Highs will also rebound to the mid 70s Thursday and upper 70s Friday. We will top out in the low 80s on Saturday - the first official day of fall - before a new front comes swinging through this weekend.

This front won't have as much moisture with it, but could push a line of showers and thunderstorms across the state later Saturday into the first part of Sunday. The other thing this front will do, is bring in an even cooler air mass. Highs will struggle to reach 70 degrees early next week.
