WEATHER BLOG: Breezy And Chilly
A large winter storm that brought heavy snow and blizzard conditions from Iowa to Wisconsin (near 1.5 feet in Madison, WI) and severe weather, with damaging winds and even a tornado to the Southeast will move toward eastern Canada on Friday. Deep low pressure (28.94") center will move from near Detroit to Lake Ontario this evening. A cold front accompanied by heavy showers extended southeast from the low.
These showers have just ended (4 a.m.) in the city and are shifting to the east. Temps will hold nearly steady before falling late in the day. Behind the front, winds will briefly subside, before increasing again later this afternoon, night and Saturday.
It will be breezy and chilly later Friday, night and through Saturday night (winds sustained 15-25 with gusts to 40-45).
Skies will be partly cloudy, though a few flurries will fly through the air this afternoon and into Saturday. A heavier snow shower or two will occur well northwest of the city.
There will be mainly tranquil, cool conditions for Sunday into Monday.
Two separate storms will impact the region next week. The timing of the first storm (the weather of the two) is a little uncertain. Nevertheless, clouds should increase later on Monday with precipitation expected Monday night into early on Tuesday. The low center will pass near or north the city which will probably bring rain showers to the city with some snow to the north and west. Total liquid will likely range from 0.10-0.30."
After a brief drier period another, likely more significant storm will occur on Wednesday into Thursday.
Mainly rain is expected with this storm while well to the north and west, a significant snowstorm could occur in western Maryland and northern Pa.
