Water Restored In Downtown Baltimore After Water Main Break
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A water main broke near the intersection of Pratt and Market Streets, sending up water through a manhole and cracks in the street.
Alex DeMetrick reports water has been restored to the area.
Baltimore's Department of Public Works says the break happened in a 10" line, which was quickly shut down, although water pressure in the area was initially impacted.
"We'll know a little bit more shortly as to whether there's a backfeed, that is another line to provide water to them, the National Aquarium and the Columbus Center, institutions that need reliable water pressure. So we're addressing that as quickly as possible," said Kurt Kocher, Baltimore DPW spokesman.
Traffic was not impacted along Pratt Street, although repair work later could cause some slowdowns.
