Washington County Man Charged With Burning Dog That Later Died
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A Hagerstown man faces animal cruelty charges in the fatal burning of a Chihuahua.
Court records show that David King, 23, was charged Tuesday with 11 counts of animal cruelty for allegedly burning the dog over 50 percent of its body.
An assistant public defender said Wednesday that his office is representing King. He declined to comment on the case.
The Herald-Mail newspaper reports that King allegedly told police he found the dog crying in City Park Nov. 25.
The newspaper reports the Washington County Humane Society euthanized the animal four days later after deciding it could not be saved.
