Washington Co. Inmate Dead In Apparent Suicide
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Washington County's sheriff says a West Virginia man was found dead in his cell at the county detention center after an apparent suicide.
Sheriff Doug Mullendore says Robert Alan Conner, 23, of Bunker Hill, W.Va., choked himself with a bedsheet and was found dead Sunday morning. He says the death was a suicide but officials must complete the investigation as standard procedure.
Mullendore says Conner did not have a cellmate at the detention center.
Police say Conner was charged Friday after an armed robbery of a Sheetz store south of Hagerstown and was being held on a $500,000 bond.
