'Walk Annapolis' Promotes Shopping In Md. Capital
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- City leaders in Annapolis are launching a "Walk Annapolis" campaign to highlight the walkability and shop-ability of the state capital.
Annapolis Mayor Joshua Cohen plans to launch the campaign Wednesday morning on Main Street. The campaign seeks to boost local businesses by promoting the ease of walking the city's shopping districts. A new poster developed for the campaign shows a map of the city's five distinct shopping and dining districts -- City Dock and Main Street, Maryland Avenue and State Circle, West Annapolis, West Street and Eastport.
MainStreets Annapolis chairman Steve Samaras says the walk from Church Circle to City Dock is no further than the walk between some stores at a nearby mall.
