Waldorf Man Convicted Of Fatal 2012 Slaying Of D.C. Cab Driver
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A 19-year-old man has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a Washington cab driver three years ago.
A D.C. Superior Court jury on Tuesday found Joshua Mebane of Waldorf guilty in the Nov. 7, 2012 slaying of Quadar Muhammad.
Prosecutors say Mebane, along with his then-girlfriend, 20-year-old Linda Bury, hailed a taxi in northeast Washington with the intention of robbing the driver. Authorities say Mebane had Muhammad drive them to a nearby school and then shot him in the head.
Bury pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in May 2014 and testified against Mebane during the week-long trial.
Mebane was also found guilty of nine other charges, including weapons and robbery counts. He also is due to face another murder trial in Waldorf for a separate 2012 shooting.
