Wags Dog Park In Dundalk Is A New Treat For Four-Legged Friends
DUNDALK, Md. (WJZ)—There's something new in Dundalk, and neighbors are celebrating.
Ron Matz has more on a treat for residents and their four-legged friends.
The dogs in Dundalk have a new place to play. The Wags Dog Park has just opened its gates to its four-legged fans.
"We probably had about 15 dogs here for the opening celebration. Everybody got along great. It's a good thing for the neighborhood. The people love it," said George Wischhusen, St. Helena Improvement Association.
It's a major improvement to the already popular St. Helena Park next door. There's lots of space for dogs big and small.
"There are a lot of dogs in the neighborhood, and these yards are small. Dogs can't run, and a lot of people have big dogs, so they're excited when they come here," said Mary Wischhusen, of Dundalk.
The Wischhusens make sure the park is kept clean.
"My wife and I walk the dog park in the morning to make sure there's nothing there 'cause everybody has on their paperwork that you must clean up after yourself. We kind of check on it in the mornings," George Wischhusen said.
There's a $20 membership fee to use the dog park, and 50 people have already signed up.
There are a lot of rules and regulations.
"The dogs must be spayed or neutered. Their shots must be up-to-date, and they must have a Baltimore City or Baltimore County dog license," Mary Wischhusen said.
With a pooch playground, it's a new dog day in Dundalk.
"It's become a great park. We have people coming from all around the city to join this dog park because the other ones aren't as nice as ours," Georg Wischhusen said.
The Wags Dog Park is the third dog park in Baltimore County. Others are in Towson and Reisterstown. A fourth is planned for the Perry Hall/White Marsh area.
