Vi Ripken: 'Too Soon' To Talk About Abduction
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Cal Ripken's mother says it's "too soon" to talk about her abduction two weeks ago, but fans of Ripken's minor-league Aberdeen IronBirds say they're happy to see her back in the stands for games.
Vi Ripken told The Baltimore Sun in the Ripken Stadium stands Wednesday night that it was "too soon to share any thoughts" about the ordeal. She was then escorted away by a stadium usher.
On July 24, Vi Ripken was abducted at gunpoint, bound and driven around in her car for 24 hours before she was returned to her home unharmed. Police are still searching for the kidnapper.
IronBirds fan Fred Gillotte of Havre de Grace says he's "glad she's OK and is able to come back to the park."
