Vermont Coasts Past UMBC 90-62
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Four McGlynn scored 15 points, leading six Vermont players in double figures, and Brian Voelkel had 10 assists in a 90-62 victory over Maryland-Baltimore County on Sunday.
Reflecting Vermont's scoring balance, seven players scored for the Catamounts (13-10, 7-2 America East Conference) during a 16-0 run midway through the first half that opened a 28-12 lead.
Vermont led 39-23 after shooting 51.6 percent (16 of 31) in the first half, and the Catamounts bettered that in the final 20 minutes, making 63.0 percent (17 of 27), including 6 of 8 on 3-pointers.
The Retrievers (3-16, 2-5) got no closer than 10 points in the second half, and Vermont ran off the next eight points to make it 59-41.
Clancy Rugg scored 13 points for Vermont, which got 12 points each from Luke Apfeld, Matt Glass and Pat Bergmann, and 11 from Brendan Bald.
Chase Plummer's 20 points led UMBC.
