Univ. Of Va. Women's Lacrosse Team Retires Love's No. 1
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- The University of Virginia's women's lacrosse team has retired the number worn by slain player Yeardley Love.
The No. 1 worn by Love was retired Sunday before the Cavaliers' home game against Penn State in Charlottesville. Virginia won 10-5.
In addition, five seniors from last year's team returned to raise a flag that will fly in Love's honor at all U.Va. women's lacrosse home games.
Love, of Cockeysville, Md., was found dead last May in her apartment. Former U.Va. men's lacrosse player George Huguely is charged in her death.
