USGS Reports Earthquake In Frederick County Saturday
OAK ORCHARD, Md. (WJZ) -- The United States Geological Survey reports that there was an earthquake in eastern Frederick County.
Officials say the earthquake occurred shortly before 6 a.m. Saturday. It was a 2.1 magnitude earthquake.
Officials say it was a "shallow" earthquake, which is why people felt it. Because the earthquake was of such a low magnitude, if it had been deeper in the earth's crust, it would not have been felt.
According to officials, the earthquake was felt in Mount Airy, New Windsor and Westminster.
There were no reports of injuries. No damage has been reported.
