UNC Wilmington Heads Past Towson 66-60
WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) -- Keith Rendleman had career highs of 23 points and 17 rebounds to help North Carolina-Wilmington hold off Towson 66-60 on Saturday night.
The Seahawks (10-9, 4-4 Colonial Athletic Association), coming off losses to James Madison and Hofstra, saw a six-point first-half lead evaporate as Towson led 34-33 at halftime.
Tied at 37 with 17:06 to go, UNC Wilmington went on a 5-0 run, capped by an Ahmad Grant dunk to take the lead for good.
After the Tigers got to 53-52 with 4:07 to go, the Seahawks used an 8-1 run, capped by a pair of Chad Tomko free throws, to lead 61-53 with 33 seconds left.
Towson got within four points on three Josh Brown free throws with 5 seconds to go, then Rendleman's layup with 2 seconds left sealed the win.
Tomko finished with 16 points.
Brown and Braxton Dupree scored 14 each to lead Towson (4-14, 0-8), which has lost six straight.
