UMD Center Alex Len 5th Overall Pick In NBA Draft
BROOKLYN (WJZ) -- One of the top picks in the NBA draft is a Maryland Terrapin.
Alex Len was the fifth overall pick by the Phoenix Suns.
The seven-foot-tall center hails from the Ukraine.
He played two seasons in College park, arriving as an unknown.
He now leaves as one of the top pro prospects.
Len is only the 18th player in Maryland history to be taken in the first round, and the highest drafted Terrapin since Steven Francis went second overall in 1999.
