U. of Md. Honored For Leafy College Park Campus
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- The University of Maryland is being honored again for its commitment to effective community forestry.
The school says its College Park campus has been given a "Tree Campus USA" award by the nonprofit Arbor Day Foundation for the fourth year in a row.
The university says the campus has some 8,140 trees, about 3,865 of which have been tagged for having a diameter of six inches or more. It says about 120 have "display tags" with more information.
American University in northwest Washington has been designated a tree campus at least twice.
