U-Md. Unveils New Rooftop Solar Power Array
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- The University of Maryland says a new rooftop solar power array atop a College Park building is one of the largest in the Washington area.
The university says the 2,600 panels unveiled Wednesday on top of the Severn Building provide enough power for 872 homes.
Washington Gas Energy Services owns and operates the panels, which were installed by Standard Solar of Rockville. The university is buying the power from WGES under a 20-year agreement.
