2-Alarm Duplex Fire In Elkton Displaces Residents, Injures 2 Firefighters
ELKTON, Md. (WJZ)-- Fire officials in Cecil County are battling a two-alarm fire at a duplex in Elkton.
The fire started at 12:18 p.m. Friday and about 50 firefighters from six volunteer fire departments responded to the scene.
The seven residents of the duplex were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
One firefighter suffered cardiac arrest and was revived at the scene by paramedics. He was transported to the hospital where his condition was stabilized. Another firefighter was treated for moderate smoke inhalation. He is expected to recover.
Officials are investigating the cause of the fire. Structural damage to the duplex is estimated at $230,000.
