Tutoring Firm Owner Convicted Of Fraud
BALTIMORE (AP) -- The owner of a Reisterstown company has been convicted of billing Baltimore public schools for thousands of hours of tutoring that were never performed.
The State Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday that Tracy Queen was convicted of felony theft in Baltimore County Circuit Court.
Prosecutors say over three years, Queen billed city schools for more than $150,000 for 4,000 tutoring hours for 250 students that were never performed by her company. They say she submitted fraudulent documents for hours her company was contracted to provide, but did not.
Queen is facing up to 15 years in prison and a $15,000 fine at sentencing in June.
