Trucker: 'Brain Shut Off' Before Fatal Crash
WASHINGTON, Pa. (AP) -- A California truck driver charged in a crash that killed two women in southwestern Pennsylvania says the collision happened when his "brain shut off."
Yevgeniy Bugreyev, 44, was ordered Wednesday to stand trial on two counts of vehicular homicide in the weekend crash that killed a mother and daughter from Maryland.
Police say Bugreyev's truck crossed the grass median of Interstate 70 in Washington County on Saturday, striking another car and killing Kaitlin Babka, 21, and Karen Babka, 57, of Hughesville, Md.
Bugreyev, of West Sacramento, is being held on $1 million bail. Court records don't list an attorney for him.
