Truck Crashes On Interstate 695 In Md., Killing 1
TOWSON, Md. (AP) --Maryland State Police say a truck driver was killed when his tractor trailer ran off the Baltimore Beltway in Towson.
State Police say the accident about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday closed several lanes of the Beltway for hours while troopers investigated.
The cause has not been determined and the identity of the driver was being withheld until his family can be notified.
State Police say the truck veered off the road just before the Providence Road exit and struck an abandoned minivan on the right shoulder, continued down an embankment and struck a soundwall about
100 feet off the roadway, where it caught fire. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and no one else was injured.
State Police say alcohol and speed are not believed to have been factors.
