Troopers' Patrol Car Hit On I-95
LAUREL, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say two troopers had to leap out of the way of a car that crashed into the rear of their patrol car.
It happened early Friday on Interstate 95 near Laurel.
Authorities say the two troopers had pulled their car behind a disabled vehicle on the highway and were putting down flares.
Police say a car traveling at a high rate of speed headed toward the troopers, who jumped over the concrete barrier on the highway to get out of the way. The car slammed into the back of the patrol car, pushing it into the disabled vehicle.
Troopers say a tire became dislodged and careened across the highway, hitting two other vehicles.
Scott Schwartz, 27, of Baltimore has been charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving and other offenses.
