Trial Resumes For 2 Of 4 Men Charged In Towson Town Center Murder
TOWSON, Md. (WJZ)--Murder at a popular mall. A Baltimore County jury is deliberating the fate of two men accused in a deadly shooting outside the Towson Town Center.
Derek Valcourt has more on the jury's efforts to reach a verdict.
The jury began deliberations on Friday. They are still trying to decide whether two members of a notorious criminal gang played in a role in orchestrating and ordering an execution.
Rodney Pridget was just 19 when he was gunned down outside of the Towson Town Center just one week before Christmas in 2011. The crime stunned shoppers and left his family heartbroken.
"They need to be in jail. They can't go around here killing people," said his father.
Investigators blame the murder on four men. They say 32-year-old Frank Williams ordered his murder because he believed Pridget had shot his cousin.
Jurors heard from Jermell Brandon, who took a plea deal, and testified that he spotted Pridget at the mall and called Williams and fellow gang member William Ward. Prosecutors showed jurors mall surveillance tapes showing Williams and Ward following the victim through the mall and then pointing him out to accused gunman, 20-year-old Tyrone Brown. They say Brown followed him out of the mall and shot him near the Nordstrom parking lot.
In all, there are four suspects in this case. One of them, the accused gunman, will face trial later this year. One of the co-defendants has already taken a plea deal. Williams and Ward are on trial right now.
If convicted, they face a possibility of life in prison.
