Towson saw missed opportunities as Tigers lost to Norfolk State 21-14
TOWSON, Md. (AP) — Otto Kuhns rushed for a touchdown and passed for another to lead Norfolk State to a 21-14 victory over Towson on Saturday.
Kuhns scored on a 67-yard run for a 14-7 lead early in the second half. Joseph White's 16-yard score on the Spartans' next possession provided what turned out to be the winning points.
Towson (1-3) got within seven on Devin Matthews' 10-yard rushing touchdown with five minutes left. The Tigers got the ball back with 2:15 remaining and reached the Spartans' 12-yard line. A false start pushed the Tigers back to the 17 and Nathan Kent was unable to connect on a pair of passes, including a final one that was broken up in the end zone as time ran out.
Kuhns completed only 5 of 14 passes for 38 yards with an interception, though he had a 10-yard scoring pass to Aaron Moore, but the Spartans (2-2) more than made up for it on the ground with 350 yards. Kevon King led the way with 97 yards on 11 carries
Kent was 21 of 36 for 201 yards passing and an interception.
