Towson Drives Home 35-17 Win Over N.C. Central
DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- Terrance West rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns in Towson's 35-17 win over North Carolina Central on Saturday.
West, who had 31 carries, got help from Darius Victor, who punched in two more rushing touchdowns on just six carries in what was expected to be a defensive duel. Instead, Towson (4-0) moved the ball in a balanced rushing and passing attack, while shutting down the NC Central (2-2) ground game, holding the Eagles to just 2 yards rushing.
The Tigers also scored on a 9-yard pass from Peter Athens to James Oboh.
Unable to move the ball on the ground, NC Central took to the air. Jordan Reid, who had 292 yards passing, connected with Marvin Poole for a 21-yard touchdown in the first quarter and Thomas Dixon for a 40-yard touchdown in the fourth.
Towson's defense hasn't allowed a rushing touchdown this season.
