Towson Defeats Abilene Christian 74-47
TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- Jerrelle Benimon had 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists on Saturday and Towson shot 57.8 percent from the field to defeat Abilene Christian 74-47 on the final day of the Battle 4 Atlantis Mainland tournament.
Towson (6-2) is off to its best start ever as a Division I program. Rafriel Guthrie led five Tigers in double figures with 15 points. Marcus Damas and Four McGlynn each had 14 points and Mike Burwell had 10.
McGlynn scored all of his 14 points in the first half. He had four 3-pointers and a pair of free throws near the end of the first half to give Towson a 46-25 lead at the break.
Abilene Christian (2-8) continued its struggles to score points this season. The Wildcats entered the game ranked 337th in the nation, averaging only 60.3 points per game. Jacob Lancaster led the Wildcats with 15 points and eight rebounds.
