Top-Seeded Loyola Edges Denver In NCAA Quarters
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Attackman Eric Lusby tied a career-high with five goals to lead top-seeded Loyola to a 10-9 victory over Denver in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.
Lusby added two assists to establish a career-high with seven points for the Greyhounds, who advance to the semifinals for the third time in program history and first since 1998.
Goalie Jack Runkel made 11 saves for Loyola, last of which came on a point-blank shot by Denver midfielder Wes Berg with 1:06 remaining in the game.
Butts had a goal and an assist for Loyola (16-1), which will meet the winner of Sunday's quarterfinal between fourth-seeded Notre Dame and fifth-seeded Virginia.
Mark Matthews scored three goals and Berg had two goal and two assists to lead Denver (9-7).
