Top 10 Manny Moments
Manny Machado gave us all a pretty bad scare this week when he went down in a heap in the batter's box after tapping a broken bat (would have been an infield single) to Derek Jeter. Everyone seems to take hit day-to-day greatness for granted until it's taken away, as many of us experienced when he went down in 2013.
Since this young man was called up from Double-A Bowie to the Orioles' clubhouse just over 2 years ago (I like to refer to it as his "Manny-versary" on August 9th), he has been an important part of the Orioles offense and defense... but especially defense. In only his first complete season in the Majors, Manny was awarded the Platinum Glove Award, as the best of the best Gold Glovers. He's made the SC Top 10 countless times. He's on everybody's best highlight reels. The kid has an amazing ability to not only get the ball in his glove but then use that cannon of an arm to get it across the infield to Chris Davis.
As if we need more of a reason to be grateful that Manny Machado's knee injury wasn't any worse than it seems to be in the MRI on Tuesday, here's a list of our top 10 favorite highlights (offensive and defensive) from the young 3rd baseman (in no particular order):
First Major League hit, a triple - August 2012
First Homerun - August 10, 2012
