Tony Lombardi Talks Ravens Training Camp
Tony Lombardi from Russell Street Report joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to give an update on Ravens training camp.
Coming off a disappointing 5-11 season, the Ravens are changing some things up. Lombardi said they have been emphasizing two things. "One is the stress on versatility and multiple roles that these players are going to be asked to have this year and the other is really just being different, being multiple and I think changing what they did that they thought was wrong last year."
A player who has impressed so far in camp has been rookie linebacker Kamalei Correa out of Boise State. Scott & Jeremy asked Lombardi if Correa could win the starting inside linebacker job next to C.J. Mosley. "I think it's a question of can he learn the system fast enough. He's got extremely quick feet. He loves the game of football…I think he's a guy the town of Baltimore is really going to embrace."
The guys asked who has been a dud so far in practices and Lombardi said cornerback Jimmy Smith has had a really poor camp. "He just looks slow. He looks stiff. He doesn't look like he's interested. I don't know if it's because they took the screws out of his feet when he had some sort of infection and had recent surgery…It's something to watch."
