Apple Releases The iPad 3; Features Faster Web Browsing & Upgraded Camera
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Thousands of people waited in line for hours just to get one. Friday, Apple released its third version of their popular tablet.
Monique Griego has more on what all the hype is about.
From excitement in Japan to long lines in New York and across the country. In California, die-hard Apple fans flocked to get the new iPad.
Here in Baltimore, people waited for hours just to be one of the first to test one out at the Apple store in Towson Town Center.
While the chaos had cleared by mid-morning, Wendy Soprano was in line at 6:30 a.m.
"It was already down to the door you come in on," she said.
The latest version of Apple's uber popular tablet boasts better resolution, an upgraded camera, and of course, faster web browsing.
"I heard about the new camera, the nice screen. Very cool and trendy," Vali Zairov, who bought the latest iPad, said.
Many people WJZ spoke with already had the iPad 2 version but ditched it for the new one.
"I gave it away to my daughter," one buyer said.
"I can actually sell my old iPad-- give it away half price and I can get the new one," said another.
So the real question is, when and will iPad excitement end? According to Apple enthusiasts-- never.
Griego: "What about when they come out with the iPad 4? Are you going to get that one too?"
iPad 3 Buyer: "I guess. Yeah! If it's going to be better, yeah!"
The basic model of the iPad 3 runs around $500. Fully loaded, it will set you back more than $800.
