Thousands Expected For AIDS Walk In D.C.
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Approximately 8,000 of people are expected to participate in the 27th annual AIDS Walk in Washington.
Runners will start from Freedom Plaza at 9:15 a.m. Saturday. Walkers will start five minutes later at 9:20 a.m. The course is a 5K.
All proceeds from the walk benefit HIV services at Whitman-Walker Health, a nonprofit community health center in the city that was established in 1978.
Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton of Washington will speak before the walk.
