The Norris & Davis Show Best Of - Week Of December 12th
This week's edition of the Norris & Davis Show best of includes a couple of Orioles interviews. Manager Buck Showalter joined the show and relief pitcher Brad Brach also both talking about the off-season and Fan Fest this Saturday at the Convention Center downtown.
BUCK SHOWALTER
Buck joined Ken and Steve to talk about this off-season and the outlook for next season.
Buck was asked about Darren O'Day returning to the team "we've had a heck of an off-season so far bringing back Wieters and Darren...we have a few other irons in the fire." Buck also talked about the new addition of Mark Trumbo and how much he has always like Trumbo and what his bat could be inside Camden Yards. As for where Trumbo fits on the team defensively Buck said "I look at him more as a DH and first base, hopefully not much in the outfield."
When asked about the Orioles payroll and not having a top payroll Buck said "we want our ballpark to be an affordable thing, we want our ballpark to be a comfortable one to come to." Buck also talked about the pitching rotation and Dylan Bundy saying "he is going to get the ball a lot this Spring."
Buck also talked about Fan Fest this Saturday briefly at the end.
BRAD BRACH
Brad joined Ed and Steve to talk about the off-season and Orioles Fan Fest on Saturday.
Steve asked Brad about the Orioles retaining some of their own free agents and the impact of those moves on the team. Brad said he is very happy that the Orioles have brought back Darren O'Day and Matt Wieters noting, "anytime you bring those guys back with the leadership they bring and their ability on the field it is big."
Ed asked Brad if he pays attention to all the off-season moves that go on. Brad acknowledged that he does pay attention to the goings on around the league and even gets some help from his dad, "I am a huge baseball fan so I do like paying attention to it. Its our job at the end of the day and I like to stay on top of it."
Brad went on to discuss the Chris Davis contract negotiations, the difference between fans from warm weather cities and cold weather cities, and whether he has thought about wearing protective head gear while pitching.
