'The Baltimore Sun' To Be Presenting Sponsor Of New Year's Eve Fireworks
BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Baltimore Sun says it has made a donation that will allow the annual Inner Harbor fireworks display to go on New Year's Eve.
Last month, officials with Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts said they didn't have the funds to produce the annual Inner Harbor fireworks display due to a lack of donations.
The Sun says is will serve as presenting sponsor for the event. Judith Berman, the Baltimore Sun Media Group's senior vice president of marketing, says the event will lead into the newspaper's 175th year of publishing.
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake praised the city's businesses for saving the fireworks display. Downtown hotels and companies joined The Sun as sponsors.
