Tenn. Woman Guilty In Md. Sex Abuse Case
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A woman has pleaded guilty in Hagerstown to second-degree child-abuse stemming from the alleged rape of a 5-year-old girl.
Christy Woods, 34, formerly of Oliver Springs, Tenn., entered the plea during a court hearing Monday.
In return for her plea and her agreement to testify against a co-defendant, prosecutors placed other, more serious charges on the inactive docket.
Woods was charged in July along with Gerald Wayne Hubbard, 67, of Boonsboro. Police say they met online.
Woods allegedly failed to intervene when Hubbard abused the girl in a recreational vehicle where Woods and the girl were living on his property near Sharpsburg in 2007 and 2008.
Police say the girl told a counselor about the abuse after she had returned to Tennessee.
Hubbard's trial is set for November.
